How we started and where we are now

I spent four months on solar and domestic work in Byron Bay, then completed my apprenticeship at Mt Arthur Coal, the open-cut mine outside Muswellbrook, in 2022. I’ve also worked as a telecommunications technician.

Training on a mine site sets a high bar. Every job is checked, every connection is accounted for and nothing is left to chance. That’s the standard I learned on, and the one we bring to every kitchen, shed and switchboard.

Plan 4 Demand Electrical started on the side in 2023 while I was still working in the mines. By 2026 we’d earned a solid name across the Valley, and I went full-time.

We keep you across what’s happening from the first call to the finished job, turn up when we say we will, and do work we’re proud to put our name on.

Submains and trenchwork

Digging, laying and connecting new submains from the house to the shed or shed to shed, including overhead runs across a rural block, so the shed gets its own sub-board and circuits.

Lights and power

New lights, extra power points and additions to existing circuits, inside and out, for homes, sheds and rural properties.

Coax and antenna

New TV outlets run and terminated, and antennas supplied, installed and connected for free-to-air TV.

Common electrical issues

Your switchboard may be due for an upgrade

Many homes around the Upper Hunter still have the switchboard they were built with. The usual warning signs are porcelain fuses, an old disc meter, asbestos backing, or no safety switch (a breaker with a test button). We replace it with a new board and RCBO safety switches on every circuit, which protect against shocks and overloads, and check your incoming mains can handle whatever you add later.

Adding new lights or power to an existing circuit

In an older home, the circuit you want to add to can be decades old, with no safety switch protecting it. We check the circuit before adding anything, then extend it or run a new one if it cannot take more. It is one of our most common jobs, from new downlights and outdoor lights to power run out to sheds.

A renovation, and no idea what the wiring can take

A new kitchen or bathroom usually means more appliances drawing more power, and a switchboard or wiring from decades ago was not sized for that. What we often find is a board with no spare capacity, or old wiring in poor condition. We check both before work starts and set out what needs upgrading, so the new room runs on wiring that can carry it.

Frequently asked questions

I want to renovate. When should an electrician be involved?

Before you plan it, rather than after. That is where people get caught out, having budgeted the kitchen and then finding the electrical needs upgrading as well. Getting it checked first is a crucial step.

How much will it cost?

Many factors set the final price, and things can surface once the work is underway. Plan 4 Demand Electrical recommends a quote before anything starts, so everyone knows what they are agreeing to.

Do you dispose of rubbish and asbestos?

Yes, both. There is an added cost for it and it is built into the final price rather than billed separately afterwards.

How quickly can you come?

Plan 4 Demand Electrical is efficient and will do its best to get your job done in a timely manner.
